“Remember one thing about democracy. We can have anything we want and at the same time, we always end up with exactly what we deserve.” (E. Albee)
What is the purpose behind Voice of the Nation ?
When was the last time you took part in a democratic process besides voting in an election ? - for most us, the answer would have been never. Our goal is to enable citizens of India to engage with the Government on a regular basis. Voice of the Nation is the first step in the engagement process, to allow people to voice their priorities for the nation - especially, as we form a new Government within next several months. Knowing that most of us have busy schedules, we have made it extremely simple - really, it takes only a couple of minutes - to engage and contribute.
Ok. Where do I suggest priorities ?
Click here to start suggesting new priorities or vote on existing ones.
Done. What happens next ?
First off, thanks for taking the time. Now, all issues that get more than 10,000 votes will be spun into its own forum, to enable deeper discussions including solutions to those issues. After all, no one - including the Government - would be interested in just hearing about issues. So, we will enable discussing solutions as well.
Great. What happens after that ?
Our goal is to get 1 million (10 lakh) votes by end of June 2009 and spur an online democratic rally, that will make the Government take notice. So, really it's up to all of us to participate and, equally importantly, spread the word.
So, you want me to spam my friends. Why ?
If you've gotten this far, we think you're the kind that strongly
believes we deserve a Government that focuses on the right priorities.
Unfortunately, the democratic process to effect such a change is
long and cumbersome. We need all the support we can get from people like you to
help lead the charge. If you're not yet convinced,
please let us know how we can message this better.
